Maternal Love

Some time back, Tara found a baby doll at my Sis place. The baby belonged to my niece and it looked abandoned and Shermaine no longer play with it, so my Sis gave it to Tara. Even though baby does not have any clothes on and it's a little dirty, Tara doesn't seem to mind. She love baby to bits.

Almost everyday, she can be seen "taking care" of her baby. Feeding, hugging it to sleep, talking and singing to it. The baby has a dirty right foot and she even attempted to wash it clean. She absolutely enjoyed taking care of baby. Sometimes, she even insisted in bringing baby whenever we go out. It was all so sweet.

And recently, she went into role playing. She will be the mummy and baby will be, oh well, her baby. Tara will tell baby that mummy is going to work and she will do all the kissing and hugging , which was what we usually did when we go to work ourselves, said bye bye to baby and trot off to "work". She even tell baby not to cry and to behave. Though it's really cute to see her taking care of baby, the role playing is a little too much for me. Somehow it makes me feel my little girl is growing up fast, too fast, in fact.

Since Tara loved to take care of baby so much, Bob decided to get a baby of her own. Well, baby #1 didn't actually belong to Tara anyway. So on Saturday, we were at Suntec City after watching Spiderman and off we went to Toys R Us so Tara can choose her own baby.

She didn't get really excited, nor was she ecstatic when we stepped into the rows of shelves where many babies were displayed. We told her to choose one, and she didn't rush into her decision either. Tara took a while to decide and eventually I had to help her make her decision and I picked this out for her.

It comes with feeding utensils and a cute backpack where she can strap the baby, just like those carriers which we strap our real babies. I thought this is the perfect set, since she loved to feed baby and bring her out.

I didn't go home together with Bob and Tara that day when we got baby #2 cos I went to Sis' place to scrap. But I heard from Bob the minute Tara reach home, she immediately took out baby from the box and played with it. That night when I went home, she was already asleep with both baby #1 and #2 by her side. Even though she got a new, clean and fully dressed baby #2, she did not forsake baby #1 and I thought that was so sweet.

Yesterday, Bob brought Tara to his aunt's place for dinner. The little one looked so cute with the pink back pack and baby #2 strapped on it. Bob told me on the way back, he asked Tara what was the name of baby #2 and she told him. And when they came home, Bob told me to ask Tara what was the name she gave baby and Tara said "Xiao Shui" (小睡). She even gave a name to baby!

I think her maternity instinct kicked in much too early!
