I'm on a Diet

But nope, not the lose weight kind of diet. It's much worse than that.

It's a no chilli, no soda, no coffee, no tea, no orange, no lemon kind of diet. It's not meant to help me lose weight, nor give me a super smooth complexion kind of diet. I'm just not supposed to eat anything that is too harsh to my stomach.

For more than a month, I realised I burp a lot. Even in mornings when I didn't even take a drop of water and I'll start burping. There seems to be endless amount of gas trying to escape from my stomach. Even my colleague sitting beside me noticed my burps were frequent and louder. Not only that, I will walk around the whole day with bad breath. Actually I found out my breath don't really smell, it's a bitter taste that I get in my mouth that even brushing with the best mint toothpaste cannot get rid of.

So on the day I went to see Kelly on my diarrhea, I told him about the symptoms that I had. He said for someone my age, it's most probably my diet. So he advised me against taking anything that might be too much for my delicate stomach. But he did say that if changing my diet does not make me better, I should go for an xray and maybe a scope.

And so, since almost 3 weeks ago, I've been a very good girl. I went on my diet. It's not easy for me, considering I'm a chilli and coke lover. Not forgetting my favourite lemonade and cafe latte. When I first started, I felt there's nothing in life to look forward to, I mean, no chilli!! Man, that's impossible!

But for someone like me, who doesn't care a damn about anything, I'm surprised I did managed to steer clear (at least 98% of the time) of all those restricted foods for the past 3 weeks. I'm not even that diligent when it comes to a slimming diet. I remembered eating chicken chop for the first time without any chilli sauce. I can even tell Bob that I tasted oyster sauce in the gravy. I don't think I can do that if I had laden the chicken chop with chilli. But I can tell you, the last few mouthfuls was hard to swallow.

Now 3 weeks later, I can say, well, it's not that hard actually. I can give a pat on my back to say that I've been a really good girl. My burps are definitely lesser and my mouth does not have any bitter taste anymore. I'm enjoying nice breath now.

Sunday Rest & Relax

I'm in Pacific Coffee at Vivo right now. We left Tara with my MIL and Bob's aunt so that we can catch a show together, just the two of us. We haven't got any chance to spend time with each other in recent months. He's travelling a lot and besides, my PILs weren't around so we couldn't get away either, even when he's in town.

Our show starts at 3.55pm. We are watching "Shooter", Bob's kind of show. And we are definitely here early. But I don't intend to shop since I've got nothing to buy. So I brought a book, Bob brought his newspapers and his precious PSP, and we just head to the cafe to chill out.

It's pure bliss. Two of us, enjoying each other's company, in a nice cafe, and sitting on nice, big leather sofa seats. He's playing on his PSP and I'm reading "Trading Up" by Candace Bushnell, (the author who also wrote "Sex & the City"). Even though we didn't chat much, we are happy to have each other for company, and also happy just to be away from the kid for a day.

I can't say I don't feel guilty leaving Tara at home. But sometimes, a little rest helps to recharge our batteries. Full time jobs, and having a kid. It ain't easy.

Okay, my timer's up. Gotta go back to my book.

Conversation with Tara

During dinner at Vivo, The Food Republic.. I asked Bob to get me a drink and Bob said to Tara..

Bob: Tara, 你去买水。 你有钱吗?

He repeated this question 3 times before Tara respond.

Tara: 我没有钱。

She tugged at her pants and then said,

Tara: 看! Pocket 没有钱!

Then she said..

Tara: 爸爸有钱, 爸爸买!

Bob: 爸爸没有钱, Tara 跟 Mummy 拿。

Then Tara promptly stretched out her palm to me. I gave her the money, and she passed to her Daddy. What a "good" girl!!
